What Moslems do during Ramadhan?

Muslims fast during the daylight hours in the month of Ramadan, it is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. It is common to have one early morning meal known as the sahr just before sunrise and an evening meal known as iftar after sunset during Ramadan. It is a time of self-examination and for increasing religious devotion.

Muslims are encouraged to be charitable during Ramadan, many Muslims donate to charity by participating in social activities, organizing a collection or charity event,  participating in food drives for the poor, and other voluntary activities.


When is Ramadan Begins in 2015?

Date of Ramadan maybe different from country to country depending on whether the moon has been sighted or not, although Month of Ramadan is always on the same day of the Islamic calendar, but the date on the Gregorian calendar varies from year to year, since the Gregorian calendar is a solar calendar and the Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar. It infuences the  difference means Ramadan moves in the Gregorian calendar approximately 11 days every year.
Ramadan in 2015 will start on Thursday, the 18th of June and will continue for 30 days until Friday, the 17th of July. Note that in the Muslim calander, a holiday begins on the sunset of the previous day, so observing Muslims will celebrate Ramadan on the sunset of Wednesday, the 17th of June. For example in Indonesia, a big social organization Muhammadiyah has set the start of the fasting month of Ramadhan 1436 or in 2015 now, will begins on Thursday, June 18, 2015.
