SPECIFICATION for Formply–C Grade or better

The following specification is for 1.5mm
hardwood veneer that is either FSC Certified, PEFC Certified or controlled
wood which is legally Certified. The hardwood is used as a layer directly
under the phenolic overlay paper in the construction of Concrete Formwork
Plywood.

Classification: IHP Standard Veneer “D”
Grade and Better (face).
Wood Species: Lauan, Merante, or equivalent.
Specification:
1. Compatible with phenolic adhesive as
they have to be overlaid with a phenolic impregnated overlay.
2. Wood density must be above 480
kilograms per cubic metre.
3. Wood species must not be resinous in
nature.
4. Solid tight knots are allowed
provided they are smooth and sound.
5. Closed splits are acceptable not in
excess of 300mm and must be repaired. Repairs should be carried out on the loose
side of the veneer.
6. All ends must be taped to allow
easier handling.
7. Moisture content will be 8-12% at the
time of shipment.
8. There will no open splits or overlaps
and excessive rough peel.
9. Pin holes are allowed within
tolerable limits but not large or bunched.
10. All veneer crates must be enclosed in plastic for transit.
11. The fumigation must have complied with the Australian Quarantine
Service. (Please refer to “Timber, Timber Products and Quarantine” by
Australian Quarantine Service).
